Truman, Harry S. Thirty-third President of the United States, served as vice president under FDR and succeeded him on the latter's death; implemented the Marshall Plan, established the Truman Doctrine and NATO. Document Signed "Harry" as President. 7 x 8 7/8" typed letter on White House stationery, Sept. 19, 1945. Writing to Senator McFarland, Truman mentions McFarland's letter which he is bring to the attention of the Surplus Property Administrator and says: "I hope we can work that situation out so as to be able to dispose of this property without a lot of scandals and so that the property can go where it will do the most good." Truman signs below in black, and adds in pen afterwards "Do you still work afternoons?" Very Fine.
