Jurist, statesman and Patriot in the Revolution; Delegate to the Continental Congress, Signer of the Declaration of Independence and Articles of Confederation, President of the Continental Congress, 1779-1781; Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Connecticut, 1784-1785; and Governor of Connecticut, 1786-to his death. Document Signed "Saml. Huntington" as Governor (Captain-General and Commander in Chief) of Connecticut. Partially printed, one page, 12 ¾ x 7 1/3", New Haven, 17th October 1793. Appointment of Amos Stubby as Captain of the 4th Company of Militia in the Connecticut 9th Regiment. Large embossed paper seal at left, Huntington signs boldly and with a flourish bottom right, his secretary George Wyllys signs at left.
