Great Britain. 42nd Royal Highlanders Regiment of Foot - Black Watch Officer's Dirk. Ca. 1860's-1870's. By Jones, 6 Regent St., London. Black wood carved hilt with basket dressing and gilt studs, pommel cap of the dirk, fork and knife set with light rose Cairngorm stone, thistle wreath brass trim around. 12 ¼" saw-back blade with two fullers, etched on front with St. Andrew, "42" and floral pattern, back with royal cipher of Victoria and floral design, maker's name in ricasso. Black leather scabbard with gilt mounts, top trim displays St. Andrew holding cross above "42", tipped with thistle pattern. An attractive and Very Fine Scottish Dirk.
