Custer, George Armstrong. Indian Campaign Date Autographed Envelope. Postmark illegible (Leavenworth, Kansas?), but "Oct 26 / 68" written in pencil by an archivist at the bottom left. The address written in ink by George Armstrong Custer to "Mrs. Genl GACuster [George Armstrong] / Monroe. / Mich." Libby Bacon grew up in Monroe. The left end of the envelope is missing.
Written just before the Battle (or Massacre) of Washita River in which Custer attacked Black Kettle's Southern Cheyenne village on the Washita River in what is now part of Oklahoma.
