Printed "Headquarters Department of the Missouri / OFFICIAL BUSINESS" in the upper right corner beneath an uncut strip of seven three cent U.S. postage stamps. Two five cent stamps are affixed near the top left corner. The left end of the envelope is missing and the upper right corner is crumpled, but the Custer signature and the address are quite attractive.
