53rd (The King's Shropshire Light Infantry) Regiment Officer's 1828-Pattern Shako. Victorian era. Felt body, patent leather peak. Helmet plate with large crown over radiant Maltese Cross with the regiment's battle honors and name at center. Two floral ear bosses suspending gilt, velvet-backed chin scales, green pompon atop helmet. Well-preserved, the patent leather shows only minor wear and the gilt some typical aging and a few minor rips in the lining. Ex Hammatt Collection.
