28th (North Gloucestershire) Regiment of Foot Officer's Shako. Regency period. Black felt, patent leather top and peak, broad silver lace band at top with lion head ring at either side, and narrow silver lace band at bottom. Silvered front plate over silver lace with red center stripe. At center lion crowned "28", WATERLOO BARROSA PENINSULA EGYPT around, fabric cockade above on silver lace band, silvered sphinx EGYPT badge at center, topped by white over red plume set in gilt holder. Large sphinx EGYPT "28" badge at back. Four-leaf clover bosses at side suspend silvered, velvet-backed chin scales. The natural color leather sweat band ink stamped with the British Royal Arms. Excellent condition, some natural age patina and little wear to patent leather and body. Ex Hammatt Collection.
