France, Anatole (Jacques Anatole Thibault, 1844-1924). French author and Nobel Prize winner. ALS, 8vo. February 28, 1903. Brief note in answer to an invitation from an unknown recipient. Mentions "Monsieur Barthou." France played an important part in the Dreyfus Affair. He signed Émile Zola's manifesto supporting Alfred Dreyfus, a Jewish army officer, falsely convicted of espionage. France's 1901 novel "Monsieur Bergeret," was based on the affair. Bold signature.
