Brilliant and internationally admired Polish pianist, composer, successful politician, spokesman for Polish independence and philanthropist; his sole opera Manru remains the only Polish opera by a Polish composer ever performed at the Metropolitan Opera; Paderewski played a vital role in the inclusion of Polish independence in Woodrow Wilson's "Fourteen Points" peace plan; Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Poland in 1919. Autograph Signature "I J Paderewski 24/IV. 1908. New York." on a cut piece of a letter (5 ¼ x 2 7/8"). Bold and crisp signature with his usual flourish. Very Fine.
