Pickford, Mary (1892-1979). "America's Sweetheart," "the girl with the curls," Canadian-American legend of the silver screen, starred in 52 features during her career, co-founded United Artists in 1919 along with Charlie Chaplin, D.W. Griffith, and her future husband, Douglas Fairbanks - which allowed her to produce and perform in her own movies, one of the original 36 founders of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. Sepia Photo Signed "Cordially, Mary Pickford." in purple ink. 6 7/8 x 8 7/8" 1920's photo of Mary, a light halo around her famed ringlets. Very Fine. Accompanied by the original "Mary Pickford Studios Hollywood, California" brown paper oversize envelope in which the photo was mailed. Also comes with a, latter, small stationary sheet with initials "MPR" (Mary Pickford Rogers) in turquoise - Mary married her third and last husband, bandleader Buddy Rogers in 1937. [3]
