Civil War. Quartet of NY newspapers: "The Troy Weekly Times," Troy, NY, Oct. 10 and 17, 1863. Four page, unbound folio. The first reports Vice President Hamlin's speech on the "Duty of Loyal Citizens" delivered at the great Union meeting in Cooper Institute, NYC; and that "Gen. Rosecrans All Right - Troops Reach Him Daily - Great Battle Soon to Be Fought". The latter reports on the Army of the Potomac -- "Meade is Falling Back - Gen. Lee Pressing His Rear - The Attack on the Ironsides - The Missouri Guerrillas…" and various war items. Well-preserved, pleasing Fine; "The New York Observer," NY, April 18, 1861. Four page, folio. On page two, the editorial headline reads "The War Begun," on the same page is Lincoln's proclamation calling up the militias to suppress the states in violation of the laws of the U.S, calls for troops, the Defense of Washington, etc. Some splits and tears, Very Good; "Genesee Valley Free Press," Wellsville, NY, July 8, 1863. Four page, folio. On the cover is "News from Vicksburg" relaying the progress of the siege.
