Civil War. Pre-Hostilities. Quartet of newspapers: "The Daily True Delta," New Orleans, Feb. 12, 13, 15 and 23, 1861. All 8-page folios. The first, a Mardi Gras issue, extols Confederate President-Elect Jeff Davis' virtues and speculates on where the CSA capital will be; the second features articles on the inauguration of the Louisiana flag, briefly mentions southern agents in NY "to Purchase Tug and Gun Boats." The third with listing of those who have resigned from federal government. Numerous illustrated ads, "Negros for Sale" listings, ship arrival and departures, etc. All have incomplete clipping on page or two, (one complete, but clipping accompanies paper), the last with bad splitting at center with fraying.
