Liverpool-born American merchant who helped finance the American Revolution; only signer of all three founding documents of the United States - the Declaration of Independence, the Articles of Confederation and the Constitution, U.S. Superintendent of Finance (1781-1784), Senator from Pennsylvania (1789-1795), deeply involved in land speculation. Autograph Document Signed "Robt Morris" as company president. A certificate (No. 2045) for 3 shares in the North American Land Company issued to James Rees, March 20, 1795. The Financial Panic of 1796-1797 sent the North American Land Company into bankruptcy and Morris, James Marshall, Alexander Hamilton, John Jay and others into poverty. Well-preserved, Very Fine. Handsomely matted and framed, a pair of quills flanking the certificate. Framed 22 2/3 x 22 2/3".
