Edison, Thomas Alva (1847-1931). "The Wizard of Menlo Park," renowned American inventor and businessman, developed the phonograph, motion picture camera and a practical, long-lasting electric light bulb; one of the first inventors to apply the principals of mass production and large-scale team work to the invention process; prolific in his work, he held 1,093 U.S. patents in his name and a number of European patents as well; his inventions made profound contributions to mass communications and telecommunications. Autograph Document Signed "Thos A Edison", in his characteristic "umbrella" flourish, as company president. Certificate, No. 19, for 100 shares of the Wisconsion Cabinet and Panel Company. Issued to Thomas A. Edison of West Orange, NJ, Jan. 9, 1917. Signed by Edison as President below and on verso for transfer. American eagle vignette at top. V-cut cancellation at bottom, with the second cut going into "Ed" of "Edison" leaving the loops of the "E" and the bar of the "d". Both autographs bold. Very Fine.
