Thirteenth President of the United States (1850-1853); last Whig president and only Whig president not to die in office, last president not affiliated with either the Democratic or Republican parties, supported U.S. naval expedition to open trade with Japan; lawyer from upstate NY, served in NY state legislature; U.S. Representative, NY State Comptroller; Vice President of the United States (1849-1850), assuming the presidency when Zachary Taylor died in office. Autograph Documents Signed "Millard Fillmore" as New York State Comptroller. Pair of printed certificates (# 107 and 121) for a $1,000 bond issued by the Hudson & Berkshire Rail-Road Co., December 8, 1848. Fillmore signs at bottom of each, embossed seal to left. Coupons attached from November 1852 through January 1868. Small edge split upper middle on No. 107, otherwise About Very Fine. [2]
