Manet, Édouard (1832-1883). Renowned French painter, vital figure in the transition from Realism to Impressionism; one of the first artists of the 19th century to paint modern life, his 1863 The Luncheon in the Grass and Olympia are considered watershed works that signal the genesis of modern art. Autograph Letter Signed "E. Manet". One page, 4 3/8 x 7", nd (but penciled "octobre 1878" at top). In his short note to "Dear Fanny," Manet gives her three addresses: "Camille - 10 rue Germain-Pilon / Andrea - 29 Boulevard Clichy / Aline - 4 rue Duphot". Ex R.M.
