1869 Pacific Railway Completion Bronzed Copper Medal. Uncirculated Details, Cleaned. Julian CM-39. HK-12. 45mm/59.48gms. By: William Barber. Obv: Bust of Grant facing right; "The Oceans United by Railway / May 10, 1869." in exergue. Rev: Train traveling eastward with mountains in background; "Medal Series of the U.S. Mint." in exergue. Boldly detailed and struck on a thick planchet. Once cleaned, the surfaces have attractively retoned with magenta color settling around the peripheries and lavender, cobalt-blue, sky-blue, peach and gold evident elsewhere.
