Anne, Half-Guinea, 4.19g., 1705, draped bust facing left, anna.dei. gratia., toothed border both sides, rev. inverted die axis, Pre-Union type crowned cruciform shields, rose at centre, sceptres in angles, five strings to Irish harp, date either side of crown above English shield, .mag br.fra et.hib reg., edge, diagonally milled (MCE 229; S.3564), with a deep red attractive tone, with full underlying brilliance, some light flecking on obverse, good extremely fine and very pleasing, rare thus Estimate £2,000-2,500 provenance
