Elizabeth I (1558-1603), fifth issue, Sovereign, 15.29g., queen enthroned holding orb and sceptre, portcullis at feet, tressure unbroken by throne, back of throne and uprights decorated with pellets, rev. square-topped shield on Tudor rose, pellet stops, m.m. A (Brown & Comber A9; Schneider 778 (same dies); N.2003; S.2529), a beautiful specimen with a delicate portrait, neatly struck on a round flan, extremely fine, one of the finest known examples of this rare mintmark Estimate £8,000-10,000 provenance:
