Charles I, Briot's second milled issue, Halfcrown, 14.86g., m.m. anchor and B, king in armour on horseback left, holding sword upright, pebbly ground below, reads britann fra et hib, rev. crowned oval garnished shield with crowned cr at sides, christo avspice regno, lozenge stops (JGB 724 (same dies); N.2304; S.2858), very light adjustment marks on flank of horse, otherwise a perfectly struck coin, attractively toned with blue underlying lustre, extremely fine or better, very rare thus Estimate £1,500-2,000 provenance: L E Bruun, Sotheby, 18 May 1925, lot 751 ("Brilliant")
