1850 Envelope franked by an imperforate 1d red posted from London to Porlock, Somersetshire via Taunton (backstamps), addressed to (Ada) The Countess of Lovelace, the only legitimate child of the poet Lord Byron. A renowned mathematician, known for her work on Babbage's mechanical computer. She is now regarded as the first computer programmer, well ahead of her times. A curious cover with a great backstory
