Sampson Gideon
1754 A receipt of “six months annuity” to the sum of £125, given to Messrs Gorling on behalf of Sampson Gideon. The uncommon signature of Gideon is provided at the bottom of the document.

Gideon was a Jewish financier in the City of London and was a prominent creditor of the Georgian era. He assisted greatly in the financing of the suppression of the Jacobite Rising in 1745, and the passing of the Jewish Naturalisation Act 1753.
