Edward Russell, 1st Earl Otford
C. 1700 A group of three receipts for interest on loans given to Edward Russell, Earl of Otford.

The documents record the interest payments made on loans to the exchequer to finance "the war against France and Spain".

One of the receipts has three pages of notes attached which document the exchange of the document between various people, as well as the interest payments at regular intervals.

The holders of the interest include Anthony Evernden, merchant, who purchased it in 1701, and Mary Garland, wife of Nathaniel, merchant of Woodcote Grove, Epsom, in 1705.

Good to excellent condition. (22 x 19cm to 36 x 23cm)
