Sarah, Duchess of Marlborough
A pair of documents relating to Sarah, Duchess of Marlborough, wife to John Churchill, 1st Duke of Marlborough.

The first is a receipt for the payment of interest, dated 1723, held by the Duke of Marlborough, signed by the executors of his will. This is on the reverse of a "fictitious" loan, used to fund the Navy, and paid interest to the holder. The executors are; Sarah, Duchess of Marlborough, Francis, Earl Godolphin, Viscount Torrignton, and William Layton.

The second document is an order of payment, dated 1754, for the sum of £10,000 to be paid to the executors of the Duchess of Marlborough's will. The executors all sign the document, and these are; Beversham Filmer Bt, Thomas Secker (Lord Bishop of Oxford), and the Spencer family physician, Dr James Stephens.

Good to excellent condition. (28 x 21cm to 38 x 24cm)
