Annuities
A group of five annuities from varying periods of the 18th century. These are all early examples of state financing through the sale of 99-year bonds which paid regular interest. At a time of many European was, it was a useful method for financing an army.

There are two folded annuities made in early 1752, both for a quarterly payment of £50 to the bond holder. The holder of both documents was Joseph Holmes, who purchased one for £1202.14s.9d, and the other Holmes sold to Elizabeth Rockcliff for £1231.16s.6d.

Also, two large annuity documents, one to Abraham Cock who gave the annuity to the Lord Mayor of London (1738-39), Micajah Perry, for the benefit of his sisters, and the other to Thomas Cooke in 1707, who later became the Governor of the Bank of England.
