Payments from Hearth Tax
1683 A receipt for the payment of interest, payment of salaries, and financing a voyage to New England. Produced by Patrick Trant on behalf of the State under Charles II, who had taken control of Trant's business, providing State ownership of the Hearth Tax.

Trant acted as commissioner of the Hearth Tax and this document records the payments provided from this tax. The financing of a voyage to New England, indicates that it was on official business, potentially conveying the new Lieutenant Governor of New York, Thomas Dongan, who arrived in August 1683.
