4th Earl of Southampton
1664 An early Lord High Treasurer warrant with the uncommon signature of Thomas Wriothesley, 4th Earl of Southampton.
The warrant orders that £1000 be paid unto William Wild, who served as an important judge under Charles II on the King's Court. The payment is likely made for Wild's work on the trial of certain Regicides. In his later life, Wild was dismissed from the bench for passing sentence on Sir Edmund Godfrey, but the evidence used was falsified.
