Treasury Warrant signed by Albemarle
1697 A treasury warrant ordering the payment of £5776, alongside £2000 twice a year, for four years, to be paid to Sir James Bunce. This document is then signed by George Monck, 1st Duke of Albemarle.
It is not clear why this payment was made to Bunce, however it could be as repayment of a loan from Charles II, or money used by Charles II personally, as the payment is made "without account".
Also signed by Sir Thomas Clifford, Sir William Coventry, and Sir John Duncombe, all powerful politicians of the period.
