King Charles II - The Stuart Restoration
1660 [?], no place, letter signed "Charles R" at top, being a letter of recommendation, reading:
"... knowing that Sir John Shaw the younger of Greenock did serve us faithfully and Loyally & fought Colonel to Horse in our Armyes both in Scotland Worcester fight, being severall times wounded and once since kept Prisoner. We have thought it fitt in regard thereof and of the assurance wee have of his Loyalty and faithfulness to our Service to recommend him to you and desire that hee may have some Testimony and token of our favour conferred on him in our Kingdome of Scotland".
Some reinforcement to long folded edges. An unusual form of document.
