1650-55 a pair of naval documents:

1655 (7 March) letter signed by Robert Blake and Edward Montagu (1s Earl of Sandwich) reporting that supplies for the Greyhound "is not come into Post, that Capt. Wager had notice to repair unto the fleet, where if home speedily we shall reserve a fifth rate frigate or some other command equivalent for him." also that "Capt. Ableson hath not only refused the Kentish(?) which he once intended him, but also given up his commission for the mermaid; whereupon we have appointed Captain Harman of the Guieny to that ship. Cat. Geffreys is now upon the tryall before a court Marshall on board his ship". With postscript reading "We did endeavour to understand from capt. Ableson the reasons for his leaving at (?) upon account of his want, sickness and other domesitcall contentment, affirming the cause and work we are upon to be, in his judgement, just and good.

1650 (14 March) letters signed by Robert Blake and Edward Popham as Admirals and Generals at sea to William Haddock, commander of the ship 'America' authorising him to seize, arrest, surprise and destroy all ships and vessels belonging to the King's of France and Portugal or their subjects together with their tackle, apparel, ordnance, ammunition, money, goods, ware and merchandices".

These aggressions would have been directed at those sympathetic to Prince Rupert in France and Spain.
