1648/9 (3 Feb) letter signed "O Cromwell" with integral address panel reading "To my Loving Friende Collonell John Moore on of the Members of the Parliament these present" asking the Moore "doe what shalbee expedient for the advancement" of his namesake, Captain Daniel Moore who is "willing to take command thither again to hazard his life and fortune on our part in that warre [in Ireland(?)]".

Non-contemporary note on reverse; a fine and rare letter written just days after King Charles I's execution, apparently unpublished.

Notes: John Moore (1599-1650), MP for Liverpool, member of the Long Parliament and signatory on the King's death warrant. He was appointed Governor of County Louth and Dundalk and Commissioner for Ireland.
