Elizabeth I (1558-1603), Second 'Restoration' Coinage, Third and Fourth Issue [Fine Gold], Gold Half-Pound, 1567-1570, Tower (London), (m.m.) ELIZABETH D ' G ' ANG ' FR ' ET HI ' REGINA, crowned and draped broad bust left with ear showing, rev. (m.m.) SCVTVM : FIDEI : PROTEGET : EAM, crowned shield, dividing E-R, 4.96g [76.54grns], 1h, m.m. coronet (BM 2025 T586, no. 3 this coin; Brown & Comber G16; Schneider I, 745-746; North 1994; Spink 2520B), minor field friction in otherwise lustrous, original fields, the obverse struck from a lightly rusted die with resultant flaw behind portrait, otherwise a pleasing and wholesome very fine, an evident outlier and TAQ dating-coin for the trove, affording a fascinating window into the 'Olde Angells' referred to in Tudor wills and inventories!
