1878-1947 a Railway Letter and Parcel Stamp collection with Railway Letter: Southern Railway 1946 (6 June) buff envelope to London "per Southern Railway To be posted on arrival" bearing Brighton 4d. black on white parcel stamp "7713" with K.G.VI 2½d. pale blue tied by London SW1 slogan postmark; Corringham 1947 (13 Sept.) envelope to Welwyn, "Railway Letter, Post at Corrington" bearing pair of 1½d. third class railway tickets "38418-38149" between Corrington and Kynochtown cancelled by blue crayon crosses, with K.G.VI 6d. tied by Stanford le Hope c.d.s.; London & South Western 1891 2d.. bright green imperforate in a top right corner strip of three, part original gum, 1921-23 4d. green, a selection with perf.14 unused (4) and used (2) plus perf.10 unused (2) and used (2); London Brighton and South Coast 1910 (22 Oct.) South Coast Dairy envelope to South Norwood bearing 2d. pale yellowish green tied by Plumpton straight-line handstamp with K.E.VII ½d. (2), each cancelled by South Norwood c.d.s.; London, Chatham & Dover 1892 (15 Aug.) envelope to Bloomsbury "Post Victoria" bearing 2d. deep bluish green with 1881 1d. lilac, both cancelled by Shoreham oval and London S.W. duplex; North London 1912 (6 Dec.) long envelope to New Southgate from The Southgate & District Gas Co. "By ... train from Broad Street arriving New Southgate 2.38" bearing 2d. light green "5045" tied by Broad Street dated oval in purple with K.G.V Downey Head 1d. uncancelled (envelope marked "To be called for"); South Eastern 1891 (17 Mar.) envelope to Church Yard, London bearing first issue 2d. green "1361" tied by ink cross, with 1881 1d. lilac tied by London N.W.6 squared circle. Also Parcel Stamps with Great Eastern 1878 Corn Samples 3d. red and yellow, a duplicated selection of used with number at top (5) and number at foot (25) and reconstructed sheet of twenty, 1903 (c.) Newspapers in Bulk: 5d. rose-red and 6d. rose-red, without control numbers, each in a vertical pair, large part original gum (one 5d. corner crease). Also 3d. rose-red overprinted "l. & n.e." with control "A" only, 1908 (c.) Newspaper stamps in green, with control numbers with 1d. unused and used (3), 2d. unused (2) and used (2, defective), 3d. unused (2) and 4d. unused pair; also "3d." in red on 2d. green well tied on piece by Broxbourne 1920 cancellation; Great Northern 1880 Waterlow 1d. on 1d. green variety surcharge inverted, unused without gum. Also an imperforate block of four with gum (creases); Great Western 1936-42 postal envelopes using Prepaid Parcel stamps with 3d. black on white on 1936 opened-out envelope from Churston to London with 1934-36 1½d.; 3d. black on pink on opened-out envelope from Paddington to Stratford with K.E.VIII 1½d.; 3d. black on white on O.H.M.S. envelope from Didcot to Caithness; 4d. black on white on 1942 envelope from Langport West to London "To be posted at Paddington" bearing K.G.VI ½d. and 2d.; 4d. black on white on 1944 2½d. stationery envelope from Monmouth, Troy to Chepstow; also 1924 parcel tag to London bearing Beaconsfield 6d. and 2/- black on white labels. Also South Eastern Rail Private Telegraph 1860 group of unused with 1/2d. (2011), small thin; 2/3d. (1421) and 2/9d. (626) with top margin (perf. fault at side). Mixed condition as usual; a wonderful group.
