Use of Old Stamps
A group of covers with 1840 entire from Cahir to London bearing two roughly torn Penny Blacks to make a single and sent without surcharge; 1840 wrapper from London to Rugby bearing a Penny Black with cut down margins, cancelled by black Maltese Cross and not accepted for postage; cleaned 1841 1d. on covers (3) one escaping surcharge, one with a fine strike of "OS" in double-circle and charged an additional 2d.; cut-down 1841 1d. on covers (2) contrary to regulations; 1841 1d. with pen embellishments on the back of the Queen's head and marked "air penny"; 1871 London envelope bearing one and a half 1d. stamps placed to look like two stamps, cancelled by Azemar machine postmark; 1904 envelope bearing uncancelled Q.V. 1d. red, marked "Obsolete stamp" with handstruck "2d" postage due.
