1840-48 a collection of covers (38) from Scotland, Wales, Ireland and Isle of Man including Isle of Man: 1841 (9 Mar.) wrapper to Cockermouth marked "p pd" bearing a good strike of the "P1" handstamp (characters the same size) with the despatch c.d.s. on the flap; Scotland: A collection on pages with Kirkcaldy 1840 (16 Jan.) entire to Edinburgh bearing superb strikes of the small "1" with boxed "paid at/kirkcaldy" and Edinburgh Paid c.d.s. alongside, the despatch datestamp on the flap in blue; superb; Aberdeen (1848), Cupar in yellow (2, 1848), Dundee (1840, 1845), superb Edinburgh (1840), Kircaldy (January and June 1840), Kirkcudbright (1842) an early date, Montrose (1841), also Stonehaven "2" in black (1840) and Leith "2" in blue (1834), also Haddington Penny post markings (3); Wales: A small group with Abergavenny 1841 (16 Jan.) envelope to Worcestershire bearing a crisp strike of the "P 1" in red with open-circle despatch c.d.s.; also 1843 (4 Jan.) entire letter to Monmouth marked "Prepaid" with the same postal markings plus Monmouth arrival on the reverse. Aberystwyth: 1844-51, a group of covers with 1844 (13 Nov.) entire letter to Shrewsbury bearing a good strike of the 2paid/1d." in shield (thick type) with despatch c.d.s. and arrival on reverse and other shield types; Ireland: A collection on leaves with examples of Ballymena, Derry, Drogheda, Dundalk, Parsonstown, Roscrea (2) plus "2" handstamps of Coleraine, Drogheda, Dublin and Longford. Mixed condition as to be expected, an interesting group well worth careful inspection.
