Uniform Penny Post Handstamps
1841-49, a collection of covers (c.35) including Buckinghamshire 1841 (23 Feb.) entire letter to Aylesbury marked "PrePaid" and bearing a very fine strike of the "paid/one/penny" with a fine strike of the despatch, Loughborough covers with handstruck "2" in black, a wide range of Wenlock with 1840 (20 Feb.) entire letter to Upper Clapton marked "Paid" with manuscript "P1" in magenta ink and a good strike of undated "wenlock" in blue and another with undated "wenlock" in black and manuscript "2"; A Cheshire group with Chester entires bearing "d1" of various types; East England selection with handstamps including "PAID/1d./chelmsford" in oval, "P.1d" in brown, "bury/1/paid" in orange-red, "Pre Paid", "paid/1d." in circle in red; Hampshire - Basingstoke range including "Pd/1" handstamp in orange-red, "pre pd", "Pd/2" in deep red, handstruck "2"; and Hertfordshire including "v.r./baldock/one 1d paid" in red "paid/hertford/1d.". A good range of offices and strikes, mixed condition as to be expected and an appealing selection.
