Dated at London 1st May 1846, this low-denomination issue was issued at York Factory on 1st May 1870.
Signed in manuscript and bearing a circular York Factory cancellation, reflecting its redemption and use in circulation.
One Shilling notes were an important practical component of the Hudson’s Bay Company’s local currency in Rupert’s Land.

(Pick S1045c), good, with heavy creasing, extensive toning, edge wear and small losses, but substantially complete and fully legible. A scarce survivor, particularly desirable as a fully issued and cancelled example from this later York Factory issue
