Hudson’s Bay Company, Canada, 1 Pound Sterling, Manitoba, York Factory, 20th November 1857, serial number 2026,

Dated at London 1st June 1857 and issued at York Factory on 20th November 1857, payable sixty days after sight at Hudson’s Bay House, London.
An engraved bill of exchange bearing the Hudson’s Bay Company arms and motto Pro Pelle Cutem, with manuscript issue signatures and endorsements.
Cancelled in manuscript across the face, as was customary when redeemed, while retaining clear details of the ornate engraved design.
A scarce later issue of the Hudson’s Bay Company’s paper currency, issued for circulation in Rupert’s Land.

(Pick S1098d, MB10-10-06i-ii), fine, with strong circulation, folds, staining, handling and minor marginal faults, but an attractive and historically important survivor
