(x) Edward III (1327-1377), Third Coinage, Second Period / Third Period Mule, Quarter Noble, c. August 1346, Tower (London), :+: EDWAR 'x R 'x AnGL 'x Z FRAnC D ' hYB, lettering 'A', Royal shield set with semé of four fleurs and four crescents in first quarter, inside double-tressure of six arches, rev. + EXALTABITVR : In : GLORIA, lettering 'B', floriate cross, with extra double-fronds on stems, leopards in angles, large E in centre, 2.067g [31.90grns], 1h (Potter 3, Pl. X, no. 21; Schneider I, 2/7 same reverse die; North 1109/1112; S.1480/1483), struck with an aged obverse die with resulting peripheral softness, and with some superficial extraction scuffs, otherwise residually lustrous with most attractive honey golden hues, a most attractively bold very fine, presumed UNIQUE in public or private hands
