Four: Captain J. Radmilovic, Welsh Regiment, late Gloucestershire Regiment, of Croatian descent, he died from influenza on 3 November 1918

John Radmilovic was born at St.Mary's Cardiff on 3 April 1882, his mother was Irish whilst his father was Croatian by birth but was a naturalised Englishman. He was previously an accountant before he joined the Gloucestershire Regiment on 1 November 1914 and entered the war in France on 21 November 1915 serving as a Lance Sergeant with the 3rd Battalion. Radmilovic contracted Contact Measles on 7 February 1916 and was off sick until 20 February 1916. He was wounded in the legs as a result of a gun shot wound on 3 September 1916 and returned Home on 8 September 1916. Radmilovic was discharged to commission on 25 April 1917 and was serving with the 16th Bn Welsh Regiment when he was wounded in the left wrist on 10 May 1918 and was sent Home. He died at Redcar from influenza on 3 November 1918 and is buried in Cardiff (Cathay's) Cemetery. His medals were sent to his widow at The Globe Hotel, St.James Street, Weston-super-Mare. His brother was Paulo Radmilovic won four Olympic gold medals across three successive Olympic Games, three in water polo and one in the 4 x 200m freestyle.
