During Operation Haven, No. 3 Commando Brigade established a Security Zone in Northern Iraq & Southern Turkey for Kurdish refugees. It is likely that Canton was serving as a Royal Marine Commando with this unit although the area of eligibility for the clasp did extend to territorial waters in the region.
