(x) A storming of the Redan casualty's Crimea Medal awarded to Corporal T. Bennett, 2nd Battalion Rifle Brigade, who was wounded mortally wounded during the action
Crimea 1854-56, 3 clasps, Alma, Inkermann, Sebastopol (Corpl Thos. Bennett. 2nd Bn. Rifle Bde.), officially impressed naming, the forename officially corrected, slight edge bruise, very fine
Thomas Bennett enlisted with the 2nd Battalion, Rifle Brigade on 21 April 1847 and was with them during the Battle of the Alma when the unit was the first to cross the river to attack the Russian forces upon the heights. Advanced Corporal the next month on 29 November 1854 he saw action at Inkermann and was still with the unit when they joined in the First Attack upon the Redan on 18 June 1885. They were driven back with heavy losses and Bennett suffered a slight wound, unfortunately, he died on 25 June 1855. It seems likely that his death was related to the wound and the unsanitary conditions which the army found themselves living in; sold together with copied research.
