(x) The Crimea Medal awarded to Private R. Sergeant, 7th Regiment of Foot (Fusiliers), who was mortally wounded at the Battle of Alma on 20 September 1854

Richard Serjeant was wounded in action during the storming of the heights over the Alma River on 20 September 1954. The 7th Regiment served with the 1st Brigade, Light Division and as such was one of the first units over the river. They advanced on the right of the British line under Colonel Lacey Yea and, reached the crest of the hill with the rest of their Brigade, heavy losses saw most the Brigade forced back down the hill however the men of the 7th Regiment clung gamely to their position. It was during this engagement that Serjeant was wounded, he appears on the roll as 'wounded 20 Sept. 1854 since dead'; sold together with copied research.
