c.1840 large format notice titled "Ocean Penny Postage.", printed by J. Unwin, Gresham Steam Press, 31, Buckersbury, London. The subheading reads "By this product it is simply proposed that the single Service of merely transporting a Letter from any Port of the United Kingdom to any touch, shall be performed for ONE PENNY" with 'mock-ups' of envelopes addressed "To any Town in the United States" with three 1d. labels titled "U. States Inland", "Ocean Transit" and "British Inland"; "To any Town in France." with 2d. label titled "French Inland" and two 1d. labels titled "Ocean Transit" and "British Inland"; and "To any Town in any British Colony" with three 1d, labels titled "Colonial Inland", "Ocean Transit" and "British Inland". Some wear along folds though generally well preserved and intact; a most important piece for the postal historian and highly visual. Framed (605x920mm.)
