1660 (11 April) entire letter from Simon Snowe in Exeter with address panel reading "For mr Thomas Pengelly merchant at ye 3 white Lyons over against the Church in Canninge Streete these", rated with manuscript endorsement "3d.", for a letter travelling 80 miles, the reverse with three vertical strokes possibly to assist a non-numerical postboy. The reverse of the letter shows some roughly drawn maps that seem to be unrelated to the letter. Also 1655 (August) entire letter from Smirna (Turkey) to Thomas Pengelley in London. Fine and a scarce duo.
