1568 order for the payment of Philip Conway "One of the ordenary of the Quenes Maties'" for carrying a letter from London into Bedfordshire to "my Lord St. John of Bletsoe", then to Northamptonshire to Sir John Spencer, and from there delivering a letter into Lincolnshire to Lord Sheffield, stating the cost of delivery at 2/8d. a day over a twenty-four day period which will be borne by Sir William Killigrew, Groom of the Prviy Chamber to Queen Elizabeth. Letter paper fine, with non-contemporary inscription on reverse alongside contemporary address panel. A rare and particularly early Royal Messenger order.
