1611 (16 May) entire letter in Italian from merchants "Coland and Burlamache" in London to "A Magstri Barolomeo Corsini in Firenze", endorsed "franco sino a mantua" by the Matthew De Quester office, suggesting a link to the Thurn and Taxis Post, Mantua being a terminal; the letter signed "Geo Calandni [&] Fil Burlmachi". Fine and scarce.

Notes: Mattew De Quester was appointed by the Crown to handle all 'Foreign Posts', being responsible of the transmission of letters originating in London to Calais which would then be forwarded within Europe by the Thurn and Taxis post."
