Elizabethan Royal Messengers, Believed to be the Earliest Known
1565 (November) Exchequer warrant to Richard Mynsterley, a Queen's messenger for riding several times into Wales, signed "Winchester", Lord High Treasurer, laid on card though leaving the address panel on reverse remaining visible. This is thought to be the earliest known document with mention of carriage of mail to Wales. A letter of historical and postal significance.
