Charles I (1625-1649), Shillings, Tower (5), under King (2), Group E (2), Type 4.2, 1636-1638, fifth 'Aberystwyth' crowned bust left, wearing falling lace collar, with double-arched crown and rounded shoulders, very small XII behind, rev. square-topped shield over cross moline, 7h, m.m tun (Brooker 513-514; North 2227; S.2794), some die rust, and doubling to legends, otherwise lightly toned, approaching very fine; another, Type 4.3, 1638-1639, 'Aberystwyth' bust, larger XII behind, 6h, m.m. anchor (Brooker 517-521; North 2229; S.2796), on an irregular planchet, toned with flashes of colour, struck soft to peripheries, otherwise a bolder fine to central devices; additionally, under Parliament (3), Group F, Type 4.4 (2), 1645, sixth 'Briot' bust left, with stellate lace collar and double-arched crown, rev. square-topped shield over short cross moline, 10h, m.m. eye (Brooker 556-559; North 2232; S.2800), doubled on a broad, irregular planchet, lightly toned, better than fine; another, 1645-1645, similar, 4h, m.m. sun (Brooker 560-563; North 2232; S.2800), clipped and rubbed, fair / fine; lastly, Group G, Type 4.6, 1646-1648, seventh bust, 2h, m.m. sceptre (Brooker 568; North 2234; S.2803), struck soft on a neat round flan, centres fair, peripherwies a bolder fine (5)
