Plantagenet Lords of Ireland, Prince John (1177-1199), Second Coinage, Round Halfpennies, c. 1185-1208, Waterford (3), Davi, [+ IO]HANNES DOM, diademed head facing, rev. + DAVI ON VVA, voided cross potent with annulets in angles, 0.76g, 8h (O'Sullivan [1964], dies 3/1 [Davi]; S.6210), on a short flan, with field toning, a bolder fine, the moneyer rare; another, Gefrei, + IOHANNES DO, similar, rev. + GEFREI ON WA, 0.76g, 1h (O'Sullivan [1964], dies 7/3 [Gefrei]; S.6210), some peripheral striking softness, otherwise lightly cabinet toned, a pleasing very fine; lastly, Marcus, [+ IOH]ANNES DOMI[:], as before, rev. [+ MARC]VS ON WA, as before, 0.74g, 5h (O'Sullivan [1964], dies 1/1 [Marcus]; S.6210 variety), off-centre and double-struck, otherwise lightly toned, very fine (3)
